rooms
Generously spaced along the banks of the Zambezi River (to allow the elephants to amble in-between!), Sausage Tree Camp has eight ultra-luxurious white Bedouin style tents complete with 24-hour power, mosquito nets, plentiful hot and cold treated water, and your own personal Muchinda (butler) to attend to your every whim. Styled with chic teak furniture, including magnificent four-poster beds, sumptuous white fabrics, and a private open-air bathroom, they provide cool, private sanctuaries that you will look forward to returning to each day.
Five Signature Tents open out on to private decks with stunning views of the Zambezi river, whilst the two Honeymoon Suites are even larger, and each boast an indoor and outdoor bathroom, dining area, bar and a king size bed overlooking the private pool and teak deck.
There is also ‘Kigelia House’, which is great for small groups or families, with two en-suite bedrooms separated by an open plan living area leading onto the private deck and pool.

facilities & activities
Sheltered by mature sausage and mahogany trees, the camp is a luxurious and tranquil haven that offers plenty of ways to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings – as it’s unfenced, you may be sharing your surroundings with visitors of the four-legged variety; elephants and hippos are regularly spotted at the camp! During your stay you will be looked after by your very own personal ‘Muchinda’ (butler), who will go out of their way to ensure your experience is truly special. You will also be given your own private guide, so you can tailor your safari activities as you wish.
There’s a great 25m pool idyllically situated on the edge of the riverbank with outstanding views – a lovely place to cool down on a hot day. The spacious central lounge and dining area is set in a Bedouin tent and fronted by an enormous teak deck which overlooks the Zambezi river and the low set reed islands teeming with game. Here you will find a dining room table, bar, small library and plenty of comfy sofas and armchairs to recline in. In front of the bar there is the camp’s fire pit, where you will enjoy pre-dinner drinks under the stars.
Thanks to its fabulous location, the camp can offer a variety of activities; guided walks on foot, game viewing in a four-wheel drive, or on the water, by boat or canoe. Night drives are also available and a great way to experience the more elusive big cats which tend to be more active at night. Perhaps the best way to see the wildlife and birdlife is from the water; canoeing safaris are very popular or if you would prefer, you can explore the waterways by boat. Fishing for the world-renowned tigerfish is another popular activity at Sausage Tree Camp.

dining
The cuisine at Sausage Tree Camp is exquisite. Breakfast is buffet style, although cooked food is available to order, and can be taken at any time.
Delicious lunches are served in the dining tent, deep in the bush or on a sandbank in the Zambezi with the water gently lapping at your feet. Afternoon tea is on offer, and sundowners from the well-stocked bar can be enjoyed admiring the stunning views from the camps deck.
Dinner is a delicious three course meal that can be enjoyed by candlelight in the open air dining tent, by star light on the deck, or for something even more special eat by moonlight on an island in the Zambezi, or by campfire in the bush; plenty of memories to cherish. -
family
Children aged four and over are very welcome at Sausage Tree Camp. They will love the pool, and the fact the wildlife can often be found wandering around camp. Canoeing and walking safaris are available for children aged 8+, but game drives, boat cruises and fishing outings are available for children aged 4+. Having your own private guide means that you can tailor your activities as you wish, so you don’t need to stick to a particular schedule.
The accommodation is in luxurious white Bedouin style tents complete with 24-hour power, mosquito nets, plentiful hot and cold treated water, and your own personal Muchinda (butler) to attend to your every whim. Kigelia House is a great choice for families as it has two en-suite bedrooms separated by an open plan living area leading onto a private deck and pool. Both bedrooms are large enough to accommodate an extra bed, if requested.
