  • rooms

The elegantly decorated rooms with their authentic carvings, dark wood and ivory tones are identical in terms of décor and size except that the suites have a walk-in dressing room and larger bathroom. Scattered amongst the tropical palm-lined gardens, there are four categories of accommodation; Standard Rooms, Deluxe Rooms, Suites and Villas. They are all air-conditioned and include en-suite bathrooms, a safe, refrigerator, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer and a full-sized third bed functioning as a sofa. The 10 Standard Rooms are furthest from the beach and come with a terrace and garden view. Bushbaby recommends one of the 40 Deluxe Rooms which are closer to the beach and located on the ground floor of the cottages, with their own terrace. Above them, on the upper floor of the cottages, are the 20 Suites with walk in dressing rooms, large balconies and sun beds. Finally, there are two Villas made up of two deluxe rooms with a living room for larger parties or friends travelling together.

  • dining

With four restaurants, three bar areas and a coffee lounge, there are a variety of dining options available. Breakfast and dinner are served in the largest restaurant, the Salama Dining Room. This large thatched space is open-sided and has a huge breakfast buffet and table-service dinners offering delicious Swahili dishes and European cuisine.

For something more intimate, there is the Sultan’s Table which is a smaller restaurant overlooking the Indian Ocean. The a-la-carte menu offers a fusion of Indian, Swahili and Asian dishes. The stunning views and Arabian style décor create a very special atmosphere and would be ideal for a special occasion.

If you are seeking private dining with a touch of romance, Tides is set in a tiny raised cabin overlooking the beach - a very special dining experience, understandably popular with honeymooners.

For after-dinner drinks you can retire to The Safari Bar, with its relaxed candlelit atmosphere, or the Bazraza Bar, Zanzibar’s first fine whisky and cigar bar.

The Breakers Grill is a great spot for lunch, where you can enjoy fresh fish and a beachfront barbecue under the shade of the palm trees, or you can order something light at the poolside bar. There’s also the Chai Room for afternoon tea, coffee and cake.

'Our 6 nights on Zanzibar were lovely. The hotel was great and the family villa which you booked for us was great - I didn't realise that it would be so spacious which was nice after being so close to each other on safari! All transfers were good.'
