The islands of Zanzibar and Pemba lie off the East African Coast, a short hop from Tanzania. Known as the spice island of the Indian Ocean, Zanzibar has been influenced by many different cultures over the centuries including Indian, Omani Arab and British. Whilst Zanzibar is therefore a fascinating destination in itself, it also forms a perfect ending to a Tanzanian safari adventure. The northern and eastern beaches with powder white sand and crystal clear shallow waters are especially idea for families. Stone Town is home to winding lanes and Sultans' Palaces, whilst further afield you can discover spice plantations and some fabulous beaches.  So whether you choose to simply unwind, cocktail in hand, or take in a little bit of Zanzibar’s historic Swahili culture in the ancient capital of the sultans, the choice is yours.
