The Country House offers 26 rooms and suites including 6 Standard De Luxe Rooms, 5 Luxury Rooms, 5 Garden Cottages and 12 Villa Suites. Some rooms have satellite TV, fire places, under floor heating and most lead out onto balconies or private patios.

Other amenities include direct dial telephones, minibars, tea and coffee making facilities and air conditioning. There 12 exclusive Villa Suites, each measuring 100 sqm, feature an entrance portico leading into a large, well appointed sitting room.

  • facilities & activities

Facilities include two outdoor swimming pools and a delightful spa where you can pamper yourself with a range of treatments including massages, reflexology, facials, manicures, pedicures and signature treatments.

First and foremost Franschhoek is about food and wine – and lots of it! The number of top rated restaurants together with the excellent boutique wine farms of the Franschhoek Valley makes this the perfect place to visit if you are a food and wine lover! In addition to the Franschhoek Wine Valley the Stellenbosch and Paarl wine routes are both within a scenic half an hour’s drive of Franschhoek offering an even wider choice. The wine routes are easy to navigate, however, the hotel can easily arrange a guided wine and cellar tour on your behalf should you prefer!

The hotel is happy to arrange activities in the surrounding area, including horse-riding in the mountains, golf, chocolate tasting, hiking, cycling, hot air ballooning and even para-gliding from the Franschhoek Mountains if you're feeling adventurous!

  • dining

The in house Monneaux restaurant, voted as one of South Africa’s Top Restaurants, has become known for its innovative Modern French Cuisine. A-la-Carte lunches are served on the magnificent new fountain terrace whilst dinner is served in the understated, yet elegant, dining room or enclosed verandah. The wine list emphasizes local wines that can also be enjoyed by the glass in the scozy wine bar or underground cellar.

The underground cellar is available for private functions  with your dinner accompanied by your selection from an impressive array of local and foreign wines.

  • family

Children are welcome but there are no specific facilities for them except babysitting which can be arranged on request. There are plentiful local attractions that will appeal to younger visitors - including Bugz Play Park, Butterfly World, Le Bonheur Crocodile Farm, Monkeytown in Somerset Westthe, Franschhoek Motor Museum, Stellenbosch Botanical Gardens and last but not least, the Stellenbosch Toy and Miniature Museum. We find the wine tram appeals to all ages, although for rather different reasons!

Garden Cottages and Villa Suites can sleep 2 children under 12 years sharing.

  • location

Franschhoek is just under an hour's drive from Cape Town and the International airport. In addition to Franschhoek's numerous attractions, it is also the perfect base from which to explore Paarl and Stellenbosch, all within a 1 hour radius.
