The Palace is fabled to be the ancient Royal residence of a King until it was destroyed by an earthquake. Now fully restored, this extravagant hotel , the jewel property in the Sun City Resort, must offer guests one of the most unique accommodation experiences in the world. Surrounded by lush botanical gardens crisscrossed with hiking trails, The Palace’s setting is enchanting. The main dining area overlooks the intricately decorated Grand Pool, which is circled with plush loungers to soak up the sunshine. Streams, gushing waterfalls and sculpture-lined walkways lead between the hotel and its gardens, golf course and down to the Valley of the Waves.

    All 335 of the Palace of the Lost City accommodation options are extravagantly decorated, from standard rooms to suites equipped with tea & coffee station and wifi.

    Luxury rooms (36 square metres) and Superior Luxury rooms (45 square metres) with varying views are accompanied by Junior Suites (70 square metres) and larger Suites (200 - 250 square metres) with several bedrooms showcasing panoramic views over the Resort.

    The Magnificent and extensive ‘Grand Pool’ is available for guests who also have complimentary access to the Valley of the Waves.  This incorporates a 5,600 square metre wave pool, waterslides and sway bridge!  Around the Resort guests can also delight in 25 hectares of botanical gardens, threaded with meandering paths, cascades, lakes and pools.

    Sun City boasts an extensive array of facilities including a fully equipped health club, 11 tennis courts, squash courts, and Health Spa available at a charge.

    There are two magnificent golf courses nearby, the Lost City Golf Course and the Gary Player Golf Course, including water hazards with crocodiles!   Talking of which, game drives and hot air ballooning can also be arranged in nearby Pilanesburg National Park.

    Restaurants and bars at the Palace are elegant and extravagant.

    Plume is a new formal elegant dining venue, providing a distinctive menu infusing French cuisine with an African Twist whilst The Grill Room offers a classic New York Steakhouse menu served in a traditional setting overlooking the Palace lakes.

    The Crystal Court, surrounded by towering floor to ceiling windows with views over the tropical jungle, offers international cuisine at Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner of if you are looking for something more informal, The Pool Deck & Cocktail Bar serves light lunches and drinks during the day.

    If you are looking for a late night drink, The Tusk Bar, open until the early hours, provides beverages in a relaxed atmosphere and also serves lunch.

    Guests also have access to a plethora or restaurants around the Resort, currently numbering over 20!

    Combining luxury and great fun, the Palace will entertain children whilst providing plenty of pampering for parents.

    The Valley of the Waves will undoubtedly be a huge hit whilst the Entertainment Centre includes a spectacular games arcade with everything your child could wish for, from smacking crocodiles to being the Dancing Queen or battling pirates.

    Your children also have the opportunity to connect with the natural world and bond with birds of prey and other small animals at the Animal World, or hold a baby crocodile at Kwena Gardens. On a hot summer’s day, nothing beats Waterworld, where they can ski, ride, sail, or play mini golf, ride a mini quad bike, go bumper boat bashing, search for buried treasure or take a trip on a steam train.

    Kamp Kwena, near Cabanas Hotel, offers kids aged 4 – 12 years a programme, including face painting, magic shows and fun games, overseen by highly-qualified personnel. There is a supervised play and care facility in the Kwena Crèche under the watchful eye of trained childcarers. For your really little ones, the Thula Baba babysitting centre offers daytime fun and night-time care. (Costs apply)

    Children’s meals and portion sizes are served at a variety of the 26 restaurants on site at Sun City! Bespoke Meals available on request.

    Standard Rooms are suitable for up to one child in a cot whereas Family Rooms have a King size bed and sleeper couch, accommodating up to 2 children under 18.

    The Palace of the Lost City Hotel is located at Sun City Resort, in the North Western Province of South Africa, a 2 hour drive north of Johannesburg.

    It is surrounded by mountains, bushveld and is set in a scenic location adjacent to South Africa’s third largest game park, The Pilanesberg, where elephants, rhinos, lions and antelope wander in their natural habitat.
