  • rooms

There are ten luxurious desert villas spread out along the curve of the escarpment.  The stone and glass structures have been designed to enhance the solitary magnificence of this stark yet enchanting landscape in complete privacy.  Each villa has air conditioning, a split-level bedroom with en suite bathroom, sitting room with fireplace, indoor and outdoor showers, and a private veranda.  The huge windows open into the huge plains where you will lose yourself in the beauty of the endless horizon.  Elegantly furnished, the cream and grey interiors contrast beautifully with the dusky pink colours of your primal surroundings.  The stunning skylight for late night stargazing from your king size bed completes this sumptuous accommodation and is really rather special.

  • facilities & activities

With its incredible setting in the vast NamibRand Nature Reserve, which spans 440,000 acres, &Beyond Sossusvlei Desert Lodge is a luxurious oasis in this desolate yet beautiful wilderness.  Being amongst the famed Sossusvlei dunes and rocky outcrops, with their magnificent hues of orange, sienna and ochre is an experience in itself, with its unusual plantlife and fascinating wildlife that has evolved and adapted to survive in this ancient desert; oryxes, springboks, zebras and ostriches are regulars at the nearby watering hole.

Back at the split-level Lodge there are plenty of opportunities to unwind; you can enjoy a drink in the fire-lit bar, borrow a book from the mezzanine library and relax in the sitting room, browse the African gift shop, or take a refreshing dip in the swimming pool with its fantastic views across the plains to the mountains beyond.  The wraparound verandas are a great place for a sundowner, watch the changing colours of sunset and contemplate the natural wonders that lay before you.  After night falls there is the opportunity for star gazing in the Lodge’s own state-of-the-art observatory where you’ll find the resident astrologer on hand to guide you through the night skies.

The dramatic desertscape plays host to a range of activities; explore the reserve on a scenic nature drive, walk to hidden caves and discover ancient San Bushman art, venture out on a quad bike trail, take a hike through the stunning terrain, or see the undulating landscapes from a hot air balloon, an unforgettable sight to behold.
