Mushara Lodge
  • rooms

Each of the 16 luxurious en-suite tents are built from canvas, wood and local limestone, and four of the tents have a sleeper couch suitable for two children.  The brushed cement floors and stone walls ensure they stay cool in the hot afternoon sun, whilst the floor to ceiling glass doors and windows, and private veranda give a very spacious and airy feel to the accommodation.

The décor is simple but elegant, and there are opulent touches, not lease the en-suite bathrooms with views overlooking the surrounding bush as well as pretty linen and old fashioned lanterns that light the room beautifully.  A coffee station, safe deposit box, mosquito net, socket for charging batteries, hair drier and floor fan come as standard.  This is authentic but splendid accommodation in which to enjoy the tranquillity of the African bush.

  • facilities & activities

Activities at Mushara Bush Camp focus on exploring the magical Etosha National Park which can be accessed on a self-drive basis or by booking a morning or afternoon drive with the experienced camp guides.  The year-round game viewing at Etosha is consistently good; with waterholes surrounding the huge shimmering pan and plenty of big game, including elephants, cheetahs, rhino, lions and hosts of large antelope, birds and smaller creatures- there is a wealth of wildlife to be seen.

Back at the Camp, you will find a delightful open-sided thatched lodge, with a stylish lounge pleasantly lit by soft, natural lighting from the ceiling lights that hang from baskets.  There are plenty of comfortable sofas and chairs for you to sit and enjoy the warming fire pit- it all adds to the intimate and warm atmosphere.

Wander outside and you will find a huge, raised pool- perfect to take a refreshing dip in – essential in the hot African bush!  There are plenty of shaded sunloungers for you to relax and admire the surrounding views.   As the sun sets, the fires in the main lodge are lit and guests gather to share stories. Against the backdrop of this delightful accommodation, you really feel you are getting the true bush camp experience.

  • dining

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are usually served on the thatched veranda, surrounded by the sights and sounds of the African bush.  The food is delicious, and mostly produced from the Camp’s own gardens.

The well-stocked bar is found close to the dining area, within the main thatched lodge.  Boma dinners under starlit skies make for a particularly memorable dining experience- not to be missed.

  • family

The Mushara Bush Camp is a truly family-friendly destination.  There is a special play area within the main lodge where children can play with games and toys, read books, draw and discover more about the animals that inhabit Etosha National Park.  The fantastic play park outside has a jungle gym, an old tractor and a sand pit and there is a shallow children’s pool too.  If that’s not enough to keep your little ones entertained, there are very friendly child-minders on hand to help (at no extra charge).

With relaxed meal times, a willingness to meat most culinary requests and four family tents (with an additional sleeper couch to accommodate up to two small children), the staff really have covered all the bases for a relaxing stay here.

It is worth noting though that the Camp is built within natural surroundings so snakes and other creatures do come out during the day and night and hence parents and children should exercise caution if they spot anything.

  • location

Mushara Bush Camp is located within the privately owned Mushara reserve and is just 10 kilometres from the Von Lindequist gate on the eastern outskirts of the Etosha National Park, Northern Namibia.

Windhoek (Hosea Kutako) is the nearest international airport. You can self-drive from Windhoek (530km) which takes approximately six hours.  Alternatively, you can arrive at Mushara on a charter flight at the reserve’s own airstrip. Secure parking is also available.
