Marrakech, Morocco
Marrakech is an alluring, ancient oasis of terracotta pink. The high wall surrounding the Medina and punctuated by approximately 20 gates, is a stunning architectural feature. Set within the heart of the Médina, is an immense square- Djemaa El Fna. At dusk it comes alive, with musicians and storytellers providing entertainment to the backdrop of sizzling food stalls.

To the north of the square, local wares including leather slippers, carpets, pottery, textiles and jewellery await those able to navigate the maze of souks; whilst to the south lies the Kasbah District, home to the current day Royal Palace, Saadian Tombs and Badii Palace. Towering over everything is the 12th Century Minaret of the Koutoubia Mosque. Outside the city walls, the New Town is characterised by wide boulevards and luxury hotels, also featuring some excellent 'fixed price' shops if bartering in the souks is not your style!
The Palmeraie, as its name suggests, is an extensive palm grove on the northern edge of the City, home to luxury villas, gardens and some lovely hotels. South of Marrakech, North Africa's largest waterpark Oasiria, features a wave pool, lagoons and an artificial river and beach, ideal for bribing children during a shopping expedition!
