El Jadida, Morocco
Just an hour from Casablanca lies the stylish town of El Jadida (New Town), now a UNESCO world heritage site. Known as Mazagan under Portuguese rule, it was renamed El Jadida after being resettled in 1815 and is now very much a bustling beach resort for Moroccans from Casablanca, Marrakech and Fes.

The Medina is more European than many of the others in Morocco and is known even today as the Cité Portugaise. Lovely winding alleys and streets are the main feature of the town and just a few kilometres away is a stunning stretch of beach which is now home to a beautiful resort with water sports, pools and a golf course. A lovely end or beginning to a longer stay in Morocco.
