Kenyan Coast, Kenya
Whilst it is probably the prospect of a safari that lures you to Kenya, the coastline doesn't disappoint; with temperatures in the late 20s and 8 hours of sunshine a day, there's plenty of opportunity to enjoy miles of soft white sand fringed by palm trees before dipping your toes in the beautiful aquamarine waters of the Indian Ocean. Traditional life continues along much of the coast which is dotted with small fishing villages. Birdlife abounds amidst the mangrove forests and overhanging cliffs, whilst you might spot green turtles nesting in the tall dunes and the offshore marin parks, which protect long coral reefs, are paradise for those keen to explore underwater.
For watersports enthusiasts Diani Beach is a great spot to relax after an activity-filled safari whilst Lamu, a UNESCO World Heritage Site on the north coast, is must for culture-buffs.
