facilities & activities
The area is home to the largest concentration of African elephant, who share their lush riverside habitat with an abundance of sable and roan antelope, and the elusive Puku antelope. Predatory lions and wild dog are often spotted along with buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, warthog, impala and the ever-skipping kudu. Twice daily game drives in open 4×4 vehicles bring you into close contact with nature and life on the banks of the river.
Watch the playful elephants frolic in the waters from the exclusive Chobe Chilwero safari boat, whilst enjoying panoramic views and a delicious lunch. Or savour a relaxing sundowner on the enchanting sunset cruise, serenaded by the sound of the buffalo munching in the long grasses nearby.
Try your hand at fishing, with help from the local guides, or venture further afield to one of the great wonders of the world – the thundering Victoria Falls. Just an hour and half away from the camp you'll enjoy a walk through the rainforest, learning facts and history along the way from the friendly guides. Raincoats are provided so you can make the most of the experience! Pick up a curio from the vibrant open air markets before a leisurely journey back back to camp.
Chobe Chilwero is the only retreat in Botswana which offers spa facilities- true decadence in the wilds of Africa. An outdoor spa bath, hydrotherapy, plunge pools and opulent private treatment rooms- one of which is in the treetops, and African inspired eco-treatments make this a true oasis.
There's a vast split level swimming pool to bask in, a boutique selling local crafts and a library, perfect for curling up with a well-thumbed book. If that all sounds too much, take advantage of the large terrace and the camp’s extraordinary setting (Chilwero means 'high view’ in Setswana) and soak up the panoramic views of the islands and floodplains which stretch as far as Namibia.

dining
Fresh, seasonal and always served with a personal touch – tailored to individual guests specific tastes – the cuisine here is outstanding and a skilful blend of Western and African ingredients. Enjoy a freshly brewed mug of coffee and a hot 'English' breakfast before setting off for the morning adventure. Replenish at lunchtime with a three course menu or perhaps a wood fired pizza, before a snooze in the hammocks.
High tea is served in the stunning gardens, before you head out again. Enjoy a sundowner and delectable canapés out in the bush with an African sunset as your backdrop before arriving back at camp for pre-dinner drinks on the terrace with sweeping views over the Chobe River.
Dinner is another mouth watering three course feast, usually including signature dishes from the lovely resident chef who'll greet you personally and find out your specific requests. Select a delicious South African wine and enjoy the star filled skies (and maybe take a notebook, most guests want to know the chef's secrets). Dine with other guests or take a romantic table for two in the gardens or on your own private terrace at your cottage.

family
Chobe Chilwero is a great choice for a family safari adventure. All ages are given a warm African welcome and the lodge itself is completely fenced. Ages 5- 11 are allowed on the game drives (at the Manager's discretion) but under 5's must be booked into a private safari vehicle. However there are also shortened game drives specifically for the children – a tantalising taste of the wild outdoors.
There's a dedicated children's program which will keep them busy all day long, introducing them to the wonders of African nature. They'll go on guided walking safaris (within the grounds) and learn about trees, collect pods, leaves and seeds for craft activities, search for clues in the safari hunt and then have a little spot of croquet on the lawn. They'll even serve up their own home cooked wood fired pizzas, working alongside the chef. In addiiton, there's a large swimming pool, board games and a television in the spacious lounge area.
Children's menus are available and evening meal times are flexible. The thatched cottages are spacious enough for a family and they'll love having their own private garden to explore. Babysitting is available on request.
