May half-term
Swap spring showers for someplace altogether warmer and sunnier...

Botswana
May is one of the best times to visit Botswana as it coincides with the start of the dry season. The absence of rainfall means watering holes dry up and animals head towards more permanent sources of water - perfect for wildlife viewing, especially on the Chobe River or Okavango Delta, which have less extreme, more moderate temperatures than the drier areas of the Kalahari.
-
Italy
For early summer sun Italy ticks lots of boxes - oozing culture, class and the kind of foodie heaven that appeals to all ages, there is a lot to compliment its more obvious coastal charms.
-
Morocco
Spring is the perfect time for a city break or short holiday to Morocco - the oppressive heat of high summer is too much for most. For a music festival which unites past and present the Gnaoua Festival, celebrated in Essaouira is well worth a visit.
-
Reunion
Reunion Island enjoys a year round tropical climate with temperatures of 24–31°C but arrive in May and it's also reliably drier and quieter - perfect for beach time and hiking in the interior!
-
Spain
Head south to the archipelego of the Canary Islands for some reliable early summer sun, an array of activities, family-friendly hotels and plenty of beach action.

Zimbabwe
With mild temperatures, clear blue skies, virtually no rain and fewer mosquitos, the winter season in which May falls is generally seen as the best time to visit. Victoria Falls is most spectacular from May through September when the flow of water is middling and the spray doesn't block the stunning views! It's the perfect time for wildlife-viewing too with less vegetation, meaning animals concentrate around waterholes and rivers.
