Thornybush Game Lodge
Thornybush Game Lodge is a luxury lodge situated within Thornybush Private Game Reserve, who’s doors opened back in 1961! It is the largest out of the 12 lodges the reserve has to offer and is an ideal choice for those looking for a good safari experience, without compromising on the quality of game drives.
Guests can choose from different camps, including the flagship Thornybush Game Lodge, the larger but good value Waterside and the boutique-style Serondella and Monwana. Located within the greater Kruger area, Thornybush offers better value than more famous areas, such as the Sabi Sands.
Facilities & Activities
Thornybush Game Lodge offers safari experiences, both by 4×4 vehicle and on foot. The guided trips offer guests the chance to spot some of the reserve’s 147 mammals including the Big Five, 114 reptiles, 507 birds and 336 trees.
Highlights include the spa at Thornybush Game Lodge, which offers special treatments for couples and “bush baths” along with their outdoor eating area known as a “Boma” which comes to life in the evening with candles and firepit. Situated on a river the choice is yours whether to sit back and relax and do your safari from your deck chair by the pool, or head out on a game drive conducted by their experienced guides.
Hot air balloon rides and white water rafting on the Blyde River or Olifants Gorge can also be arranged at an additional charge.
