Inspired by the turn-of-the-century plantation houses, this elegant hotel is situated on a lovely beach on the East coast.

There are 3 floodlit tennis courts, aerobics and fitness equipment, one freshwater swimming pool, a children’s pool and Jacuzzi.

Activities include a variety of water sports such as scuba diving, deep sea fishing, water skiing, windsurfing, Hobie Cats, canoes, kayaks, paddle boats, snorkelling, glass bottom boat trips, catamaran cruises, fishing and diving, plus a vast selection of land activities such as golf and horse riding, which can be arranged nearby (additional charges may apply). For those wishing to have a more relaxing time, the Sanctuary Spa offers a range of holistic treatments, taking its inspiration from “Zen” philosophy, tending to guests’ individual needs.

Guests on half board will be given a credit when they dine in the restaurant of their choice in the evening, which generally covers the cost of a 2-3 course meal.

The Dining Room, with a colonial feel enhanced by wooden shutters opening to views of the ocean, is open for buffet breakfast and dinners. Light lunches can be enjoyed on the terrace overlooking the pool at The Verandah.

Located beachside, The Plantation, offers an original approach to Creole and international cuisine. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner and plays host to live performances three times a week.

The bar is the focus of the spacious lounge with sumptuous sofas and genteel ambiance. Drinks are served here throughout the day and late into the evening or relax with a traditional afternoon tea.


The 135 elegant rooms offer garden or ocean views. The hotel also boasts 28 spacious Suites.

Colonial Ocean Front Rooms face directly onto the ocean with magnificent views over the turquoise lagoon. The larger Colonial Garden View Senior Suites, Colonial Ocean View Suites and Colonial Ocean Front Suites have a separate living area and can accommodate up to 2 children under 12 with parents. There are also interconnecting room options for older children.

Children from 3 to 12 years have complimentary access to the Planters Children’s Club from 9am to 10pm and there is also babysitting available. As well as catering for the younger guests, there are activities tailored to suit teenagers and space for them to be independent, making this an ideal family environment. The daily programme includes treasure hunts, face painting, hikes and picnics, glass-bottom boat tours, snorkelling classes, theme days, pony rides, sports competitions and evening entertainment such as plays or films.

Delicious buffet lunches and dinners can be enjoyed outdoors under a tropical canopy in the gardens or indoors. The meals have been designed to satisfy even the pickiest eaters, offering a wide assortment of fun dishes and food activities, such as making and cooking their own pizza in small baking ovens.


The Residence is committed to making the hotel more sustainable with initiatives such as the use of energy saving bulbs and using recycled air from the air-conditioning unit to heat the pool. Linen and towel reuse are encouraged to save water and to reduce the use of disposables and the hotel is looking at alternatives to plastic and no longer offers straws. The staff are also actively encouraged to avoid waste, supported by a weekly ‘No bin day’ in the staff restaurant!


The hotel is on the East coast of Mauritius, 48km from the airport, set on a mile-long beach of immaculate white sand, fringed by the azure Indian Ocean and tropical gardens.
