Northern Thailand
The Bush Camp Chiang Mai

Located along the Ping River, only two hours from the ancient city of Chiang Mai, the Camp (a sister property to Elephant Hills in the South) makes for a very memorable addition to a Northern Thailand itinerary.

Spend 2 days and 1 night here, staying in a glamping-style luxury tent, with the opportunity to interact with the very well-cared for elephants, as well as try your hand at traditional village activities, before relaxing by the pool looking out over the atmospheric misty mountains.

Facilities & Activities

The star attraction are of course the free-roaming elephants, whom you’ll get to chance to meet.  Most have been rescued from the illegal logging trade or other non-ethical tourism outlets. During your stay you’ll have the opportunity to prepare their food and learn how the mahouts and vets care for them as well as watch the swim and wash!   Other wildlife you may spot include monkeys, deer and wild boar, whilst the birdlife is prolific too.

You’ll also have the chance to try some village activities, enabling you to learn more about the culture of the Karen tribe – improve your skills in areas such as pounding rice and weaving perhaps!.

Finally enjoy a sundowner on a mountain-top viewpoint or by the sparkling infinity pool, the perfect completion to a day of activities and adventure.

Children will love the chance to encounter the elephants and no doubt many life-long memories will await families!

Guests from age four are very welcome and up to 2 extra beds can be placed in the spacious tents.

The Bush Camp and sister property Elephant Hills fully understand the importance of conserving the environment and minimising the impact of the camps on their surroundings and they have won many awards for their sustainability programmes.

As part of their plans to minimise single use plastic, complimentary water refill stations are provided, so guests are encouraged to bring water bottles.

Involving the community is also at their core, so many staff are employed from the locality of the camps.

A two hour journey from Chiang Mai, complimentary shared transfers are offered to guests to complete the 2 day / 1 night programme.
