Shangri-La’s Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa
Overlooking a sparkling bay and hugging the dramatic, rugged coastline the resort comprises 3 excellent hotels, encompassed by an oasis of gardens and pools. Al Waha will appeal to parents seeking connecting family rooms and easy access to the children’s club, whilst Al Bandar offers slightly more spacious and luxurious accommodation. Guests can move between the swimming areas and restaurants of the hotels by lazy river-a feature sure to appeal to younger guests in particular. Palatial Al Husn, with its stunning private beach reserved for adults only.
To sum up, if you are looking for a week of winter sun, especially if you have kids in tow, but want more than just a beach, the resort ticks lots of boxes, as evidenced by many of our clients who return year upon year!

Facilities & Activities
One of the major draws of the resort is the 6,000 square metres of swimming pools and shaded splash areas linked by a 500 metre lazy river, perfect for cooling off under the Middle Eastern sunshine.
A Dive centre on site offers PADI instruction, snorkelling and dolphin watching trips for a charge and regular catamaran sailings are offered from the Marina. Windsurfing and kayaking is also available from the beach.
On the land, facilities include tennis courts and activities such as power walking and beach volleyball whilst the Fitness Centre offers a fully equipped gym with sea views alongside a sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. For those seeking some pampering the CHI signature Spa is set across 12 private Spa Villas.
The Omani Heritage Village offers the opportunity to learn more about the Arabian way of living whilst the hotel also offers a complimentary shuttle to the souk for some local shopping. The environment is also respected; during turtle nesting season in January to June where you may be fortunate enough to see turtles nesting, laying eggs or hatching.

Dining
Part of the pleasure of this excellent resort is the wide variety of dining experiences on offer. Al Bandar features Al Tanoor focusing on traditional Omani cuisine whilst Capri Court offers contrasting fare from Italy and Samba takes you to Latin America!
Bait Al Bahr on the beach front is a delightful venue to enjoy freshly prepared seafood, whilst the Surf Cafe at Al Waha is great for a light lunch, serving healthy salads as well as burgers and sandwiches.
Al Husn is host to some spectacular restaurants including Shahrazad, serving exquisite Moroccan dishes in an elegant setting alongside Sultanah offering a la carte dining imaginatively presented as an interior of a luxury cruise liner with sea views.
One of our favourite spots is Tapas & Sablah, set on the sociable piazza in the heart of the resort, serving tapas and mezze from dusk until late. A selection of lounges around the resort also offer coffees and cocktails.
Rooms
All air-conditioned guest rooms have varying views of the sea, pools and gardens and include a patio or balcony. Features included coffee & tea facilities, electronic safe, satellite TV, mini-bar and broadband internet connection.
Al Waha (meaning Oasis) is the largest of the 3 hotels and boasts Dhofari architecture, from the Southern region of Oman. The hotel offers 262 rooms and is ideal for families. Superior Room types (32 square metres) are priced according to the view (Pool or Sea). Executive Rooms (50 square metres) and Deluxe Suites (73 – 87 square metres) are also available whilst The Yenkit Suite (117 square metres) occupies the prime location within the hotel.
Al Bandar (translating as The Town) is located in the centre of the Resort with 198 Deluxe Rooms (38 square metres), ideal for those looking for increased space and luxury and again are priced depending on view and location. Premier Rooms are also available (58 square metres) alongside One Bedroom Suites (90 square metres) and the Dalaleel and Miyabeen Suites (142 square metres). We also recommend the Deluxe Terrace Rooms on the ground floor, great for easy access to the outside.
Al Husn (The Castle) offers indulgent luxury. This exclusive hotel has only 180 rooms, with stunning views from its high location. Clients wishing to upgrade from a Deluxe Room (48 square metres) can choose from a One Bedroom Suite (116 square metres) or a Deluxe Suite (132 square metres). The Sohar, Rustaq and Alhazm Suites (174 square metres) boast further luxury whilst those looking for the ultimate address in the Resort should book the Jabreen Suite (500 square metres).

Family
The pools and splash zones, not to mention the lazy river will be a hit with guests of all ages! The resort also features a playground based on an Arabian Dhow whilst inside The Adventure Zone has a variety of fun soft play areas including three drop slides, open from 10am – 10pm. The whole family can also enjoy GameZ, a games room with billiards, air hockey and video games that’s open afternoons and early evenings or head for the 9 challenging holes of the mini golf course!
The Cool Zone Kids Club welcomes children up to the age of 8, from 9am to 6pm. Babysitting is also available for a charge.
Children under 12 years dine free with a paying adult at the main buffet restaurants. Children’s menus at other venues are also typically available.
As only 1 child can share, those requiring several bedrooms that connect can opt for the Family Rooms at Al Waha. There are also One-Bedroom Family Suites at both Al Waha and Al Bandar in which up to 2 single beds can be placed in the sitting room. No children under 18 are allowed at Al Husn.

Location
The resort is approximately 40-minutes from the Airport and 15 minutes from the souks of Muscat (complimentary shuttle provided).
