With Crete boasting nearly 365 days of warm sunshine a year, there’s plenty to do here. The hotel is renowned for its destination golf course and academy, not to mention the stunning pool and sea side restaurants that are perfectly located for a quick refresher in-between play. Alternatively the exclusive 18 hole golf course is 30 minutes away and offers special rates for guests. Pop into the Pro shop found within the hotel and really look the part.
The spa is also renowned for its extensive holistic therapies, private thalassotherapy suites and is a haven of tranquility and space. Once you’ve finished being pampered then it will be time to flop beside one of the salt water pools or head to the pristine and private Blue Flag beach, complete with parasols and loungers that can be personally reserved. Order a drink and enjoy the stunning views before paddling in the azure waters of the Aegean Sea.
For the more energetic there are activities galore. A huge range of water sports are available including world-record tow boats for wake boarding or water skiing along with canoes, pedal boats, wave runners and a host of instructors ready to teach you the ropes. Windsurf, sail or explore the beautiful bay on a private motor boat and take a guided tour on one of the hotel’s sailing yachts. Or follow in Jacques Cousteau’s footsteps and explore under water with one of the scuba tours and enjoy the crystal clear views.
Activities off the water include tennis courts, tennis lessons for all levels, private gym with inspirational views or a spot of shopping at the lovely boutiques found within the hotel.
The local area is well worth exploring too. Attractive Elounda harbour village is a few minutes away with its delightful village square and tavernas. Take a boat trip from here to the now famous Island of Spinalonga, brought to life by Victoria Hislop’s novel ‘The Island’ or explore ancient Minoan architecture, see the incredible Knossos and bring the minotaur to life.

Dining
There’s a myriad of choice for dining here thanks to the resort sharing option with sister hotels. Most of the restaurants offer spectacular waterfront settings alongside delectable local and international cuisine. Choose from Nafsika with its waterside buffet breakfast or dinner and views over the sea and mountains beyond. Or Odysseus; this stunning restaurant offers unique over-water dining so you can watch the fish swimming under your feet or the boats bobbing in the harbour while you savour your lunch. Gourmet Calypso at Elounda peninsula offers French delicacies alongside a private wine cellar for small parties. The Yacht Club at Elounda Mare sits perched on the edge overlooking the beach and serves up local Cretan specialities. Enjoy one of the weekly Fisherman’s evenings at Elounda Mare where the catch of the day is served up as part of an extensive buffet. If you are seeking a fine dining experience then we recommending booking The Old Mill at Elounda Mare, where you can enjoy the beautiful garden setting whilst being serenaded by a tinkling piano and the sea.
For an aperitif or night cap, choose from Peninsula Lounge, which recreates the bridge of a sumptuous yacht overlooking the sea, or the vibrant beach bar with its selection of light bites and cocktails, or buzzing pool-side bar, Kirki, with piano music and incredible views. However, do please note that due to the lovely waterside settings of these restaurants and lounges, they are weather dependent and some can be closed during low season.
If you’d like to explore off- resort then the other Elounda hotels close by offer pre-bookable packages for dinner.
Rooms
The stunning rooms all offer gorgeous sea views along with opulent marble bathrooms, a welcome gift – for both adults and children – and a lovely turn down service just completes the luxury at the end of the day. Choose from Standard Rooms with their lovely private plant filled balconies, or a shared pool room with a sparkling sea water pool to wallow in or choose the Superior Pool Rooms with their own private pools, just a step down from the furnished sun drenched terrace.
For a little more space choose one of the fabulous Suites. All have private furnished flower filled balconies, a shared or private pool and all offer separate living space, walk in showers and great sized bedrooms.
