Central Vietnam
Pilgrimage Village Boutique Resort & Spa, Hue

Tucked away in the lush Vietnamese countryside, Pilgrimage Village is an oasis of calm that’s conveniently located just 5km south of central Hue.

You’re within a short drive of the city’s landmarks, yet the resort feels a world away from urban life with its tranquil gardens, inviting pools and an indulgent spa. There are plenty of accommodation options plus children’s activities to satisfy the whole brood.

Facilities & Activities

The resort’s Vedanā spa is one of its main attractions, and for good reason. Expect a revitalising jacuzzi and sauna, grass-roofed shalas and complimentary wellness teas. Treatments are extensive and use natural ingredients – some products are even derived from the resort’s herb garden or from the local morning markets. Indulge in everything from a relaxing Ayurvedic head massage to a rejuvenating Vietnamese massage that uses suction cupping to release toxins and promote healthy blood flow. The daily wellness program also includes yoga and tai chi classes.

The resort has 3 main pools, including the 48m-long Slope pool. There’s also one reserved for adults staying in Honeymoon accommodation. Other facilities include a fitness centre and laundry services.

Private trips and excursions can be arranged by reception. These include a cycling village tour, a trip to the Phong Nha caves and a bespoke visit to Hue’s main sites including the Imperial Citadel and Royal Tombs.

A One-Bedroom Family Villa has its own garden and private plunge pool and can sleep 2 adults and 2 children (aged under 10 years) in the same spacious room. For larger groups seeking more space, Family Rooms (both Standard and Deluxe) with 2 interconnecting rooms and balconies can sleep up to 4 adults and 4 children.

Children will enjoy the resort’s child-friendly activities, which include hat-making, dressmaking and cooking classes (contact in advance to book). There’s even a children’s spa menu, offering under 12’s everything from foot acupressure to full-body scrubs.

The family-run resort has a number of sustainable development initiatives, including the use of energy-saving electricals such as lights and air-conditioning, sensors and timers and recycled water technology. To limit the use of nasty chemicals, staff use natural products like salts and baking soda to clean hotel ovens, windows and floors. There is also an emphasis on supporting the local community – 95% of employees are local and the majority of fruit and vegetables used in the resort are locally-grown.

The resort is ideally located just a 10-minute drive South of central Hue, with its imperial Citadel, bustling night markets and the atmospheric Perfume River. The resort offers a complimentary shuttle bus into the city centre and back (3x daily; book in reception 30 minutes in advance). In the other direction (5-minutes South of the hotel), you have the Royal Tombs.

Hue’s International Airport lies approximately 15km east, with a car journey of around 20-minutes. Da Nang International Airport is around a 2-hour drive South.
