The vast array of facilities at the hotel include a health spa, gym and pool. With quad and mountain bikes (min age applies), horse riding, tennis, a well-stocked library and internet available, there is no shortage of things to keep everyone happy.
The Kurland polo complex features four boarded polo fields, fully equipped stables and veterinary clinic.
The pavilion includes a well-stocked bar, children’s playroom and restaurant.
For nature-lovers, we recommend a visit to the Elephant Sanctuary, Monkeyland, Birds of Eden and Tenikwa Wildlife Aware Centre.
For a more sedate pace, head for the picturesque wild beaches of Nature’s Valley which are nearby.

Specific food items for dinner will be arranged as per your preference, but will typically be a South African barbeque with baked potatoes and salads. An honesty bar is also available.
Kurland Hotel can be hired as a whole unit for large groups, families and events or you can choose from one of the 12 suites set within the estate.
Kurland Villa has 3 double bedrooms set in park-like surroundings and facing the forest, which can be hired on a bed and breakfast basis. The Main Suite comes with a separate dressing room, full bathroom and study. There are 2 sitting rooms, a large pool, sauna, jacuzzi and full size billiards table. There is a large covered veranda with barbeque and pizza oven. The Villa includes all the facilities available for modern living including WiFi, laundry, cable TV and Netflix.

Children at Kurland are automatically members of VIK – the Very Important Kid Programme. There is a large playroom with toys, videos, PlayStation and snooker table located next to a heated children’s swimming pool and jungle gym. With mountain-bikes and baby bike seats available, the whole family can get out and about together. For a fun way to explore, forest wagon trails are available for a charge. Watching polo matches, in season, or visiting the stables are also hugely popular options!
The Rose Garden Rooms feature an upstairs interior-accessed en-suite loft room suitable for 2 or 3 children sharing. The rooms are inter-leading, if required, making them perfect for larger groups. They also have private patios overlooking paddocks, which children will love.
Another option for families would be one of the 6 Homestead Luxury Rooms, which offer private terrace entrances and 4 upstairs en-suite lofts for children. If you’d prefer to have your own space away from the Homestead, their 4 largest rooms are a perfect hideaway. Two are located a distance from the main Homestead and pool, while the others are tucked away from the main Homestead and offer extraordinary panoramic views of the estate. They have large terraces and private plunge pools for children to splash around in. A romantic location for private dinners, they have courtyards with soothing water features, and the main suites flow onto large pool terraces. These rooms also boast upstairs en-suite loft rooms which can sleep up to four.

Kurland is situated between the coastal towns of Plettenberg Bay and Knysna on the scenic Garden Route of the Western Cape. You are 19km north east of South Africa’s premier resort town of Plettenburg Bay where you can enjoy endless golden beaches, and 50km east of the lagoon town of Knysna.
The local Airport is George, approx. 1h 45 drive away, whilst those heading from Cape Town can drive the route in approx. 6h 30.
The hotel is surrounded by rich indigenous forests and framed by the majestic mountains of the Tsitsikamma Forest.
