Cape Town & The Western Cape
Kensington Place
Tucked away on the leafy slopes of Table Mountain, Kensington Place is a quietly confident boutique hotel that feels more like a stylish private home than a traditional hotel.
With just a handful of individually designed rooms, warm, intuitive service and views of the surrounding Table Mountain range, it’s a favourite for travellers who value privacy, personality and a relaxed sense of luxury. Days drift easily here — lazy breakfasts on the terrace, dips in the pool between sightseeing, and evenings watching the city lights sparkle below.

Facilities & Activities
Despite its intimate size, Kensington Place punches well above its weight when it comes to thoughtful facilities.
A serene outdoor swimming pool sits within manicured gardens, perfectly positioned for soaking up Cape Town sunshine. Plenty of shaded loungers and quiet corners make it easy to lose a few hours with a book — or a glass of something chilled.
While there’s no dedicated spa, a range of massage and beauty treatments can be arranged in the privacy of your room. Think deeply relaxing massages after a day exploring the city or post-hike recovery following a climb up Table Mountain. The concierge can also organise personal trainers, yoga sessions or guided hikes nearby. Table Mountain trails are close at hand, and the team is excellent at tailoring activities — from coastal walks to wine tours — to suit your pace.
This is where Kensington Place really shines. Restaurant bookings, insider tips, private guides, transfers and bespoke excursions are handled seamlessly, with genuinely personal recommendations rather than a one-size-fits-all list.

Dining
Dining at Kensington Place is relaxed, elegant and refreshingly unpretentious.
Mornings begin with a generous à la carte breakfast served on the terrace or in the dining room. Expect beautifully presented classics, fresh fruit, pastries and cooked options made to order — all enjoyed with views of the lush gardens. Lunch and dinner, along with light meals and snacks are available during the afternoon and evening.
The honesty bar is well stocked with South African wines, spirits and soft drinks. Sundowners by the pool or on the terrace are very much encouraged.
Rooms
Each of the 8 rooms at Kensington Place has its own character, blending contemporary design with homely comfort and thoughtful details.
Luxury Rooms are stylish and spacious, featuring king-size beds, chic en-suite bathrooms and either garden or city views. Each room opens onto private terraces or balconies, ideal for early-morning coffee or a quiet drink as the sun sets. If you’re seeking extra space, Superior Luxury Rooms offer this alongside elevated views, feeling particularly indulgent thanks to large windows that flood the interiors with natural light. Elegant furnishings and plush linens create a calm, cocooning atmosphere that works just as well for a short stay as it does for a longer escape.
Suites are ideal for guests wanting further living space, with separate lounge areas and expansive terraces. Some enjoy panoramic views across Cape Town city, some the lush garden, some enjoy the surrounding Table Mountain range, making them especially appealing for longer stays or special occasions.
Across all room categories, guests can expect air conditioning, complimentary Wi-Fi, luxury bathroom amenities, a minibar, Nespresso machine and in-room dining options.
Family
Kensington Place welcomes families with older children (age 12+ years), but its tranquil, boutique nature makes it best suited to those travelling with teens rather than very young children. There are no inter-connecting rooms or triples. Four twin rooms are available and must be requested at the time of booking.
Sustainability
Kensington Place takes a mindful approach to sustainability, focusing on responsible practices that complement its boutique scale. This includes water-wise initiatives, reduced plastic use, energy-conscious operations and support for local suppliers and artisans wherever possible. The emphasis is on thoughtful luxury — comfort without excess.
Location
Set in the prestigious suburb of Higgovale, Kensington Place enjoys a peaceful, residential setting while remaining wonderfully close to Cape Town’s highlights. The V&A Waterfront, Camps Bay beaches and the city centre are all a short drive away, while Table Mountain’s trails are practically on the doorstep. Cape Town International Airport is approximately 25 minutes by car, traffic permitting.
