South East Thailand
InterContinental Koh Samui Resort

This grande dame of luxury Thai hotels perches elegantly on the cliff-side, as if awaiting guests for a decadent high tea. Surrounded by 16 acres of coconut plantation, it also boasts spectacular views over the Five Islands, Angthong National Marine Park and the beautiful Gulf of Thailand.

With sunset-hued swimming pools, a destination spa, private jetty, pristine white-sand beach and an array of well organised excursions, it’s the perfect base to explore the unspoilt and authentic west coast of Koh Samui.

Facilities & Activities

There’s a swimming pool for every day of the week, all themed to the island’s spectacular sunsets. The largest infinity pool (the first on Koh Samui) is perched on the cliff top and has 280 degree views around the island, or choose the beach-side equivalent, which also has a separate children’s pool. The remaining five pools are dotted around the resort and are secluded, tranquil and private.

The award-winning spa is undoubtedly one of the best on the island. Found at the highest point of the cliff, it offers sumptuous treatment rooms, housed in traditional local architecture, along with luxurious, holistic and pampering treatments.

You might well spend your days on the silky sands of the private beach; staff will provide you with beach cabanas, sun-loungers, beach towels and umbrellas after you’ve enjoyed a dip in the warm waters. Book a luxury picnic and enjoy gourmet delights, fresh seafood and exotic fruits as you while away the afternoon.

There’s a glittering array of sports available, from yoga, to tennis, to Thai boxing and a fully equipped fitness centre. Take your pick of water sports with Hobie cat catamarans, sailing, paddle-boards, wind-surfing, kayaking or snorkelling in the crystal clear waters. The hotel’s PADI dive centre will kit up diving enthusiasts so you can enjoy close-up views of the coral reefs.

There are also plenty of excursions available and all will be handled on your behalf by the concierge team – providing helpful and friendly local insight. Visit the neighbouring islands on the resort’s private yachts, learn to cook Thai food, visit bustling food markets and marvel the beautiful waterfalls. A popular option is a trip to see the famous pink dolphins – not to be missed!

Enjoy light tapas, home-made cocktails and the best views in Koh Samui at ‘Air Bar’, a destination in its own right. Or try ‘Fireside’, a unique dining experience around your own private bonfire on the beach. ‘Serene’ offers afternoon teas, light bites and pastries.

If you prefer a more intimate dining experience with your personal waiter then ask to dine under the stars at secluded locations around the resort or along the fairy-lit pier.

All artfully and traditionally decorated in warm Thai hues, with vaulted ceilings, ornamental bird cages and ornate fretwork, the rooms and suites offer tranquil havens with breath-taking views. Choose from the stylish Ocean or Premier Ocean View rooms with their large open balconies, large day beds and dining areas. The exquisite Suites have spacious living areas, master bedrooms, jacuzzi and large terraces with ‘sink-into’ day beds.

For a home-from-home feel choose a large villa. The Family and Beachside Villas are perched on the cliff and along the beach line and provide a spa bath, outdoor plunge pool and private lawn for walks or a game of boules. Enjoy the high vaulted ceilings and wrap-around plantation style windows or relax in the candle-light on your own private sundeck in the tropical gardens.

For the ultimate treat, there’s the Three Bedroom Nappa Reserve Villa. Positioned high up on the cliff, this opulent villa sits amongst the lush tropical rainforest and boasts indescribable views out across the Gulf of Thailand. It also comes complete with a dedicated butler service, 15m private pool and personal chef. What more could you want?
