Facilities & Activities

Hamilton Island is a fantastic base for exploring the Great Barrier Reef. On the island itself there are an abundance of water sports and endless activities and entertainment to cater to all tastes.

The Island is surrounded by coral-fringed beaches and azure waters, one of the main beaches that is a ‘must see’ is the beautiful Catseye Beach; a perfect spot for swimming, watersports or just relaxing on the sand. If you fancy a dip, there are plenty of great pools to choose from; the Bougainvillea Pool hidden behind Catseye Beach offers a truly tropical experience, or you could enjoy a drink from the swim-up bar at the Island’s large, free-form main pool.

If you like beach sports you’ll be spoilt for choice. There’s everything from kayaking to snorkelling and parasailing, which options for all ages and activity levels. With its amazing location, it’s no wonder that the island offers all sorts of ways to sail around the region and there are plenty of opportunities for experienced sailors and beginners to explore the area on the water.

There are so many fun experiences to be had on the island, whether you want recreation, adventure or relaxation. There is a great sports club if you fancy some exercise, or you could go bushwalking – a great way to explore the Island. If you enjoy a game of tennis, there are six quality tennis courts available or you could try your hand at indoor bowling at the Islands Bowling Alley. For excitement there are Quad bike adventure tours or you could try go-karting on Hamilton Island’s purpose-built racetrack.

If you want to pamper yourself there are two great spas offering indulgent treatments that will relax and rejuvenate, or treat yourself to a trip to Island Hair and Beauty which offers a selection of treatments and services for all the family.

The beauty of Hamilton Island is that there is so much choice when it comes to eating and drinking. Family

Hamilton Island is a great family-friendly holiday destination. The kids will love the beaches, the swimming pools, exploring the Great Barrier Reef, and the great activities on offer. There are so many things for kids to do here, with or without their parents. Go-karts, mini golf, the Hamilton Island Wildlife Park and all the essential water sports are on offer.

There are plenty of great child-friendly restaurants on the island and having the option of self-catering may also work well for families.

The Clownfish Club is Hamilton Island’s fully supervised kids club, catering for children aged six weeks to 14 years of age. The professional childcare staff are well versed in providing daily activities that are safe, fun and imaginative.

Babysitting can also be arranged at an additional charge.

Sustainability

Hamilton Island has a “protected wildlife management strategy”, they work closely with local authorities to maintain a safe environment for native wildlife species. This includes controlling levels within the ecosystem and specially training staff to inform and educate guests to what is best to keep the wildlife safe.

Location

Hamilton Island is located just off the Queensland coast of Australia and is at the edge of the Great Barrier Reef. It is the largest inhabited island of the Whitsunday Islands.

Hamilton Island Airport (also known as the Great Barrier Reef Airport) is south of the marina, just a 5 minute trip to the resort accommodation. It handles direct flights daily from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Cairns.
