Chena Huts

In a tranquil, unspoiled spot set amongst the golden dunes and lush greenery of Yala, are these enchanting ultra-luxe ‘huts’, complete with sparkling plunge pools, private viewing decks and sumptuous furnishings.

Undoubtedly unique, their setting bordering Yala National Park ensures total peace, disturbed only by the occasional elephant bathing in the natural watering hole or by the vibrant pink flamingos on the lake. Wildlife aside, our favourite feature just might be the resident’s cocktail bar set behind a waterfall.

Facilities & Activities

Acres of wilderness lie just beyond the doorstep. Rich and varied, there are forests, grasslands, freshwater lakes, marine wetlands and silky soft beaches touched only by the balmy Indian Ocean. Daily safaris, with experienced guides, introduce you to the incredible range of flora, fauna and wildlife that are found here – as well as the obvious lure of leopard and elephants, be entranced by turtles, crocodiles, flying snakes and the many resplendent peacocks strutting their stuff.

When it’s time to relax, the huge pool surrounded by tropical greenery, with its private cocktail bar set behind the waterfall is a tempting place to head for. Or opt for a Swedish massage or facial in the lovely spa. Wander down to the beach and enjoy the sounds of the Indian Ocean or sit by the shores of the tranquil lake and watch the occasional elephant splashing in the shallow waters. If you are especially lucky your visit might coincide with the annual arrival of sea-turtles laying their eggs on a moonlit beach.

Children are welcome here and they’ll love the adventure of staying in huts. The pool is a good size or their own private plunge pool will keep them entertained while you soak up the scenery from your wooden deck.
