The main lodge features a welcoming reception, dining and lounge area with a central fireplace, as well as a media and library area stocked with books, games and internet access. Guests can relax beside the large swimming pool and wooden pool deck, which overlooks a waterhole frequently visited by wildlife. The lodge also offers spa treatments, a restaurant, bar and complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the property.

The highlight of any stay is the twice-daily Big Five game drives, led by experienced rangers in open safari vehicles through the malaria-free Amakhala Game Reserve. Guests can also enjoy wildlife viewing from the lodge itself, bush braais (traditional barbecue dinners), private candlelit dining experiences and exceptional birdwatching opportunities. Additional activities may include spa treatments, stargazing, archery and night drives, depending on availability and season.

Bukela Game Lodge offers just 14 rooms, creating an intimate and exclusive safari experience in the heart of the Amakhala Game Reserve. Guests can choose between 4 spacious Suites and 10 beautifully appointed Safari Tents, each designed to blend seamlessly with the surrounding bush while providing every modern comfort.

The Safari Tents deliver an authentic glamping experience, combining the romance of a traditional safari camp with luxury lodge amenities. Raised on wooden decks and surrounded by indigenous vegetation, the tents feature elegant furnishings, en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning, tea and coffee-making facilities, and private viewing decks where guests can relax and take in the sights and sounds of the African wilderness.

For those seeking additional space and privacy, the Suites offer a more refined lodge experience with stylish interiors, generous living areas and premium comforts. Location

Bukela Game Lodge is located within the malaria-free Amakhala Game Reserve in South Africa’s Eastern Cape Province, approximately 80 km northeast of Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), which is around a 50–60 minute drive from the reserve. Guests can choose to self-drive from Gqeberha via the N2 and R342, or arrange a private road transfer directly to the lodge.
