Facilities & Activities

The area around Ucluelet is one of the world’s best salmon and halibut fishing destinations – jump on a sport fishing charter and enjoy! Bird watching here is also world class and if you visit between February and April don’t miss the chance to go whale watching. Other popular outdoor pursuits here are surfing and kayaking, beachcombing, hiking and storm watching. You can begin exploring miles of coastal trails and pristine beaches in the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve from just outside the hotel.

When you can tear yourself away from the natural splendours on offer, perhaps visit the well equipped gym, or treat yourself to a relaxing visit to the Drift Spa, which is inspired by the wild Pacific landscape and offers its own line of body and skincare featuring wild organic seaweed for its treatments.  There is a couple’s massage room overlooking the ocean, a hydrotherapy tub and a relaxing lounge.  Enjoy a soak in one of the outdoor hot tubs or the plunge pool.

Dining

The hotel’s studios and suites come complete with kitchens and BBQs can also be rented in the summer months. However there are also some excellent onsite dining options.

After a day working up an appetite in the fresh air, enjoy a meal from menus featuring locally sourced seasonal ingredients and West Coast wines in the resort’s Currents Restaurant.  During the summer months, diners can choose to eat on the outdoor patio overlooking the active surge channel and Wild Pacific Trail.  Every table inside the restaurant has a wonderful view of the surrounding rocky headland and Pacific Ocean.  Currents is open daily for breakfast and dinner.

The Big Beach Bar & Lounge, open daily from 3pm – 10pm, offers cocktails, drinks and a light snack menu in a contemporary setting with floor-to-ceiling windows to soak up the views.

Rooms

The resort offers a selection of 133 comfortable and contemporary Studios and one and two bedroom Suites, all with floor-to-ceiling windows featuring Pacific nature views.  Studios have kitchenettes and can accommodate 2 or 4 people. The Suites have larger kitchens and can accommodate from 4 – 6 people. There is also the option of adjoining suites which can accommodate up to 8 people in total.

All accommodations offer a balcony, well-equipped kitchen, coffee maker, gas fireplace, flat screen TV, king size beds and sofa bed. Bathrooms have heated floors, soaker tubs, rain showers and eco-inspired bath products.

Family

The outdoor activities available in the area make this a great spot for a family holiday. Younger members of your party can choose from everything from surfing, fishing and kayaking to zip line eco tours, beachcombing and whale watching. Ucluelet also has an excellent aquarium.

The fully-equipped kitchens in the hotel’s suites make this accommodation a particularly flexible and budget friendly option for families who wish to self cater for some or all of the time.

The spacious living areas in the suites also offer families much needed room to stretch out and relax. Families can opt for adjoining suites, sleeping up to 8 people.

Location

Black Rock Oceanfront Resort sits on a rocky headland on the shores of the Pacific Ocean in Ucluelet which is set on the stunning outer West Coast of Vancouver Island, about 20 – 30 minutes from Tofino.  It is surrounded by dramatic scenery at every corner, be it crashing waves on the rocks, beautiful beaches or rainforest.

The hotel can by reached by a 10-hour direct flight from the UK to Vancouver International Airport, followed by a 45 minute flight to Tofino and a short road transfer.
